This blog used to be funny

As well as a place where I answer questions en masse, this blog makes up for my terrible lack of recall. I have the memory of a goldfish, something that my wife finds disturbing as she will have to remember things for me when I catch the sky bus.

It wasn’t supposed to be a diary. It started off as a community on fidonet in 1994, then sequential early internet boards, eventually exploding thus leading to this web-blog in 2008.

In 2008 I ‘blogged’ a lot. Mostly the bullshit I later did on Twitter and now do on Mastodon. I thought I had backed it up before moving it over to this new site, but didn’t understand how WordPress actually works. Despite two methods I lost tens of pages. Some I have re-discovered on The Internet Archive. But many are still missing – a lot like my memory.

But I thought it helpful to recall a few of the old ‘features’.
These are the moments where bullshit reigns supreme.

Wednesday Night is Garbage Night was a collection of odd cassettes, with MP3 files from each. Most of this is still broken but you can get an idea. Note: titles go upwards as that’s how a blog works.

And there’s a lot more where that came from!
