THE END

Quite unexpectedly, difficult thoughts gathered in the last post determined a plan of action.
It said ‘move on’.

The blog has run for 17 years. It will remain available for the time being, finances willing, but this will be the last post. The sub-sites for Severed Heads Museum and the ManCave will be maintained.

I’ve tried to craft a personal space around notions of ‘Tiki’, magic, pop culture, theme parks, weird books, junk shops, old toys, synthetics … a whirl of influences of mixed merit. An recent offer of a gig around that cluster has made the job urgent – even if that fails there will be broadcasts. What do I love?

Nilamox failed. Let it rest.
Severed Heads is an occasional hobby, park it in the driveway. What do I love?

And by what language can I speak to others? It will never be fully understood. We’ll just have to find a middle ground and infest it with personal choices.

I believe that ‘Tiki’ is one kind of energy – although I don’t fully go for it. I think ‘Hauntology’ is a bit tired, but maybe it could join with its energetic rival. Plus it’s a little Halloween.

Tiki and Hauntology had a a bastard child and called it HaunTiki. May this bastard have life.

    Sad farewell
    Looking forward to hauntiki
And there is a group of us that enjoyed Nilamox. But the pivot was too hard

I enjoyed the brief flirtation with Nilamox, and continue to wallow and frolic in the joy of Severed Heads, but I don’t blame you for needing to leave it on your driveway for a while. I don’t need to reinforce the statement that your art brings so much joy, I’ll continue to observe and partake as necessary.

I’m sure you get this all the time, but your music reached me as a 17 year old in 1986, and it has never let me go

Ii’m on my 3rd copy of ‘Bulkhead’

My fantasy hockey team has been named the ‘Severed Heads’ for 35 years

Thank you for making the music of my life. If I could wish anything for you I would wish you could experience even a fraction of the joy your music has brought me

We watch and wait. Always eager for news 😉

Just to let other wanderers know – hauntiki.com is alive

  6. There is no failure. Nothing fails. There is only what it was, what it is, and what it will be. Anticipation not matching the arrival of the future is simply a limitation of extrapolation. You think it’s going to be one thing; it becomes something else. Whoa. Cause and effect. The universe does not care about what we do or hope to do. It is amazing that we invest so much of our self image into caring what the universe does, as if it does it for us. It doesn’t. It just does it. If we are in the way, if we are on the receiving end, that at best can be called having an interesting time.

Just wanted to let you know that, despite what you think about it, Cuisine is one of my favorite Severed Heads albums, and I hope to eventually see that two disk vinyl release someday, especially if it includes Finder.

    Dear Tom,

2005-2008 (cir) you shared an amazing set of videos on your website under the general banner:

    Turd Polish

The videos and music were VERY super great.

Is there anyway you could post them? … YouTube? … I would happily pay for an .mp4 download !
I’d just love to see all of them again.

    Always,

Tom S. (Saint Paul, MN, USA)
