Toys I won’t pay for. Sorry.

Build your own Edison Style Phonograph seems like a great idea – and there’s lot of other sound related experiments to try. But the phonograph looks like it inscribes a wax (?) cylinder, which will work once and that’s your lot. Which for $64.50 is a bit paltry. It also comes with a slinky and some phone apps – it’s not a terrible deal but I’d need subscribers for this kind of spend. LOL at me having subscribers.

STEAM Music Circuit is a science experiment and art project all in one! I fucking hate that S.T.E.A.M. thing. I hated S.T.E.M. as an attempt to limit young people into mental shallows and hoped Art would stay well away from it, but no – it was absorbed into that hot mess and made a subset of approved thought processes. This is a bunch of resistors. Get a cat piano instead.

Dough Circuit Piano is that resistor thing again + play dough which is STEAM + washing up with hot water. I am not sure what knowledge comes from touching green dough and getting A flat, or something approaching A flat depending on how many millimetres of play dough you use. Anyway it’s 33 bucks and instead I got a drummer robot with googly eyes for 10 bucks.

Puppy Keyboard is just a rip off of the Cat Piano but it doesn’t have a dog sound! What the fuck? Was anyone awake at the meeting?
